Freehold Raceway was established in 1853 and features live Standardbred
harness races for trotters and pacers ten months of the year from
August through May. The racetrack is also open seven days a week and
seven nights for year round thoroughbred and harness racing simulcasts
from tracks throughout North America. They offer free admission every
afternoon, seven days a week and free parking every evening for simulcasting
and all day Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

The 40,000 person capacity Meadowlands Racetrack offers Harness
& Thoroughbred Racing on their 1 mile oval track main track
and Thoroughbred Only racing on their 7/8 mile turf course. They
have several levels, each a little different. On the Paddocl level
You can get an up close view in the Paddock Park at the final home
stretch which has rides, games and entertainment during major races
and events. This level also houses over 250 television monitors,
two non-smoking teletheaters, an international bar, a sports bar
and numerous food stands. The Grandstand Level offers the perfect
view of every race from start to finish and the only complete non-smoking
floor at the track. It offers a choice of reserved seating as well
as free seating on a first-come-first-serve basis. Owners' box seats,
complete with TV monitors and hand-held wagering machines, are also
found at this level. The Clubhouse Level is home to the Club Teletheater,
this semi-private handicapping and betting room features 14 television
monitors and five private betting windows. They have several restaurants
including the award winning Pegasus, one of the metropolitan area's
most elegant dining spots. You won't miss any of the action with
their state-of-the-art 49" x 19" Daktronics video board
which offers five camera angles of each race simultaneously, along
with the odds and exacta pools for each horse. Fully staffed restrooms
are available on each level. Groups and private parties for 25 to
1,000 people are available in their semi private rooms or under
a tent. General parking is free, valet is $4 and the admission fee
is minimal.

The 8,000 person capacity Monmouth Park offers thoroughbred racing
as well as Family Fun Days every Sunday with lots of free activities
for children. They are open for live racing Wednesday through Sunday
of each week, through September 2. Post time is 1:00 p.m. The track
has no live racing on Mondays or Tuesdays and is open seven days
and six nights per week for simulcasting. The main track is a 100-foot-wide,
one-mile oval and the turf course is a 90-foot-wide, 7/8 mile oval.
The paddock consists of a 16-stall oak saddling enclosure leading
to the beautiful, tree-shaded English Walking Ring, where the horses
are paraded for the public and the jockeys receive last minute instructions.
This is one of the most picturesque and relaxing areas. The backstretch
houses approximately 1,600 horses in 38 barns and serves as a small
community for the horsemen and track's employees. Located in the
center of the backstretch is the Quadrangle which houses a riding
apparel shop, post office, and a recreation hall which features
movies, seminars and games. They have numerous restaurants including
a bar and grill, an a la carte menu, a patio cafe and more. They
also offer picnic areas with over 100 umbrella tables and a large
children's playground - charcoal grills are welcome. A 2 hour morning
tour allows visitors an insiders' view into a day in the life of
a thoroughbred racehorse with a tram ride through the stable area,
the starting gate and into the jockey's room. Complimentary coffee,
juice and donuts. Bring carrots! Free children's gifts. Reservations
are necessary. General parking is free and admission is minimal
($1.50).
